Spotlight came to Jam&Co to revitalise their Windowshade brand across 3 key product categories:

  1. Rods & Pole sets,
  2. Roller Blinds
  3. Venetian Blinds.

The Windowshade brand had been part of Spotlights private label brands for over 15 years. During this time Windowshade had undergone a variety of packaging changes, all of which had diluted the brand and made consumer navigation across packs and shopping in-store challenging. The explosion of the DIY market and the impact of competitive pressures meant it was time to revolutionise the brand to showcase the true quality of the products within the brand portfolio.

During this time Windowshade had undergone a variety of packaging changes, all of which had diluted the brand and made consumer navigation across packs and shopping in-store challenging. The explosion of the DIY market and the impact of competitive pressures meant it was time to revolutionise the brand to showcase the true quality of the products within the brand portfolio.

The main challenges impacting the overall design:

 

  • The need for the brand to work on a wide variety of pack formats. The new brand needed to work across all the products with minimal space for branding. 
  • The design needed an easy to navigate pack in the cluttered furnishing’s environment.
  • The new Windowshade packs needed to showcase the key purchasing drivers quickly & succinctly.
  • The design needed to be gender neutral for the DIY market and also showcasing an aspirational lifestyle image.

 

A cool contemporary steel blue

The brand Jam developed used a cool contemporary steel blue that is premium yet still every day.

We also created a unique brand mark with the ‘W’ & ‘S’ that enables a strong brand presence on even the smallest of pack formats.

The colour palette chosen used strong yet neutral colours to allow for balance with the product size colour coding as well as ensuring the design was gender neutral. To aide consumer navigation on pack we created a series of icons as well as a system for how the information should be conveyed.

The end result was a brand that was easy to shop across the store, regardless of pack format.
